The world-renowned Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR), originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, is backed by numerous research studies and is well-respected within the medical community as a complement to traditional treatment approaches. Tens of thousands of people all over the world have participated in the MBSR program in order to learn how to cope more effectively with a variety of challenges, including general life stress, cardiovascular disease/high blood pressure, chronic illness or pain, cancer, depression & anxiety, gastrointestinal distress, sleep disturbances, among other conditions.

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program (MBSR) is designed for adults and consists of eight weekly two-and-a-half hour classes, as well as an extended practice session between the sixth and seventh classes. The program is highly experiential and includes guided instruction in mindfulness meditation practices and concepts, gentle mindful stretching, group discussions, daily home assignments, and home practice materials, including four guided mindfulness practice recordings.

About Cindy Gittleman

cindyCindy Gittleman, MA, MA, CAGS, is the founder of Sunrise Mindfulness, LLC.  She is a Certified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor and Certified Hatha Yoga teacher who holds graduate degrees from Columbia University and City University of New York, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Boston.

In addition to teaching at Sunrise Mindfulness, Cindy has taught the MBSR program at the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Shrewsbury, where she did her training. She has appeared as a guest on “America Works Radio,” the local cable access television programs “Shrink Rap” and “Where’s Wilmington,” and has presented workshops on mindfulness-based stress reduction to various organizations and groups.

Cindy established Sunrise Mindfulness as a means of assisting people in living more fully, both personally and professionally, through the use of mindfulness practices. She has extensive experience working with diverse individuals in a variety of settings. A gifted practitioner who quickly puts people at ease through her open, down to earth style, it is clear to anyone who works with Cindy that she is devoted to helping others access their own inner resources.
